Each face has something different to look at. I am fond of the rabbit's spotted collar against its mustard top, the bear's striped bib and the tiny buttons on the cat's cardigan. The clothes give the portraits their character. Blush and mustard bring warmth to the group, while pale moons and stars connect one animal to the next.

There is a particular tenderness in dressing these creatures so carefully. I like that a child can favour one face while an adult notices a stitch or a collar. The whole company can belong in the same room, without needing everyone to find the same favourite.
