The broad curve of a whale is a lovely shape to follow around a shade. I like the pale belly against the darker back and the way the separate fin gives that simple outline a little depth. Orange starfish and branching coral make smaller, livelier marks beside the generous grey bodies.

Those touches of orange matter. They give the sea picture warmth without taking attention from the whales. To me, the pleasure is in bringing something immense into the familiar scale of a room. A love of the sea can have a place among the everyday things a family lives with.
