The story from the maker
Marta
My eye follows the long curve of the whale before it reaches the smaller shells and starfish. That difference in scale is what holds this sea picture together for me. The pale belly makes the body easy to read, and the projecting fin gives the felt drawing another layer.

Blue starfish and peach coral add colour around the grey, with cream cotton still visible between the shapes. I like a scene that rewards looking without filling every space. A whale can be the first thing a child notices, while the smaller forms offer their own quiet pleasures to anyone living with the piece.
