I like the surprise of such bright drops against grey cotton. The clouds are broad and pale, leaving the pinks, blues, greens and yellows clear enough to enjoy one at a time. Below the rim, another row of drops carries the picture beyond the shade, giving the rain a different outline from every side.

The grey is what makes all that colour work for me. I can follow one bright drop without losing the pale clouds around it. I like the small surprise of rain in these colours, and the way it continues below the rim. An ordinary bit of weather has become something a little less ordinary.
