On this small shade, one goose has room to hold the picture. I like its long neck above the round belly, with a separate wing and a few brown stitches breaking up the white felt. Flowers and hearts sit around it in a close, warm palette. The bird's slightly awkward feet give the neat arrangement a little humour.

The rounded weave below brings the whole lamp together for me. It repeats the warmth of the shade while giving the little bird a different texture to sit above. There is pleasure in giving an ordinary household object this much character, something affectionate to live with day after day.
